Helsinki’s history and culture
Helsinki Highlights
On this walking tour we’ll explore the city’s history, culture, and everyday life, giving you a well-rounded overview of Helsinki and Finland to take with you as you continue exploring on your own.

What to expect?
This 3-hour walking tour takes you deeper into Helsinki, its history, culture, and everyday rhythms, at a relaxed pace with plenty of opportunities to pause and take it all in. We’ll begin in the peaceful Old Church Park before heading to the Esplanadi, Helsinki’s elegant central park and boulevard, and on to the lively Market Square. Along the way, we’ll stop at Allas Sea Pool and Senate Square, then pass Pohjolatalo, the Insurance House, on our way to Rautatientori. We’ll finish at two of Helsinki’s most talked-about modern landmarks: Oodi, the city’s striking library, and Lasipalatsi, the “Glass Palace.” Through storytelling rather than dry facts, we’ll cover everything from Helsinki’s architecture and Nordic design to its political history and everyday quirks, giving you a solid, engaging foundation to keep exploring the city on your own long after the tour ends. Midway through, we’ll take a 20-minute break at Fazer Café on Kluuvikatu, where coffee and a shared pastry are included for groups of up to 4 people. For larger groups (up to 25), the café stop is still part of the tour, just at your own expense.
